Many sellers that I have seen on TikTok or TaoBao that sell high quality Garden Quartz (also known as Lodolite and Phantom Quartz) ranges from USD 35 to USD 500. An average Garden Quartz of around 40mm usually starts from USD 35. The price will increase depending on the clarity of the quartz and the scenic view inside the quartz. But why are these crystals expensive as compared to other crystals?
Garden Quartz spheres where it magnifies the scene inside the quartz, is usually more expensive as compared to towers as it will require more raw materials such as the quartz to shape it into a sphere. The availability of the raw materials are finite. I usually buy my Garden Quartz from a regular seller, Xiao Ming, from TaoBao. From what I have learned during his live show on TaoBao, he shared that his family mines and source for the raw materials. Some materials are mined from many years ago where certain batch of materials will have specific types of minerals residing in the clear quartz. These minerals inside the clear quartz creates different types of scenes and patterns. Thus, the name of Garden Quartz because it looks like a garden.
What causes the color variation in Garden Quartz?
The natural quartz of Garden Quartz(s) have the common chlorite “worm” inclusions. These chlorite inclusions start out green but on exposure to oxygen the chlorite decomposes to become reddish brown and eventually turn white. All white and brown chlorite is exposed through connection or small cracks. These cracks or connections are used to impregnate with all types of dye to create different colors. One may need to take note of fake Garden Quartz because some may dyed with kind of natural colors to make them appear natural. I learned from my regular seller that Garden Quartz will not have blue’s for example.
Uniqueness of Garden Quartz
The appearance of Garden Quartz is beautifully dreamlike, with the various lodolite inclusions giving the mineral a cloudy appearance with a deep resolution and patterning that sparks the imagination. No two Garden Quartz specimens appear to be exactly the same as the patterns are all different within them and arranged in varying display.
As one of the few stones that contains such interesting and unique patterns, Garden quartz possesses a certain unique appearance that is believed to evoke deep meditative states and dreamlike emotions by those holding and looking at the stone.

I love Garden Quartz and I specialized in collecting the mini Garden Quartz spheres as they are not as expensive as the bigger spheres. The mini spheres are usually from 15 to 30mm. The price can range from USD 20 to USD 50 depending on the quality of the crystal. As the saying goes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. The sentimental value and emotional, mental, and spiritual value are different types of value that many people covet the stones for the power they are said to possess. There may also be scenarios where the seller "feels" that the value is low and a buyer may see it as of higher value. That is when the buyer may get the crystal at a lower perceived price set by the seller.
